The project, entitled MMOvie, uses the real-time, interactive WoW environment and in-game characters supplemented with out of game models to create a series of parodies of memorable movie scenes. This film-making process, called "Machinima", has been done before on many platforms, including WoW, but MMOvie will be the first full-length theatrical machinima film.
"Shooting a film in WoW is very similar to shooting any film; you scout locations, cast actors, have PAs try to keep people off the sets", said Nate Taylor, director of the project. "What's different is having to worry that your entire crew could be attacked at any moment by monsters or players of the opposing faction...."
