I smell a conspiracy....
I swear, I must be mad to live up here this time of the year. I mean, you'd think I'd know by now that January and February up here equals SICKNESS! but nooo, not me. Moron that I am.
First in early February I get a cold, then suddenly I have to fly to Tromso and back, 3 hour each way on a cold plane wich makes for a lovely looong time to get sick.
So then I get back home after repeatedly take-offs and landings and lots of turbulence and dogs barking and a teenaged kid vomiting all the way from Vadso to tromso, and no sooner do I put my foot on the airport here then I get pneumonia.
Naturally, daft as I am, I let a week go by before I finally can crawl to the doctor, and I drag the boyfriend and the kid along too as they are also sick.
Turns out they have the flu. So, after we all get drugged up on meds and we finally get well again, Heike today suddenly have an eye infection, so now we have to get him on meds for that, and we forgot to ask the doctor if its contagious... >_<
I may be a tad paranoid, or it may just be my meds talking, but I'm getting the feeling someone is out to get me, my boyfriend and our son.

New GLASSES!
So, I've always had glasses, since, like, forever. (or at least so close to forever that it doesn't make any difference)
But due to certain family affairs, i had to go to Tromso a little while back, and while I was there I took the time to buy new glasses, cause my old pair I had for 6 years or so. And frankly thats really not good for your eyes. I think you have to change glasses like once a year or so really, so, I was WAAY overdue, for a new pair.

I haven't posted in ages...
cause I've been busy with work, life and all that jazz^^
So, here is whats been going on lately:
We bought Skiis for Heike!
Naturally he loves them, and he is actually very very good at it. (beats me how cause neither me or dad has even got skiis, so it's not like we can teach him lol) Anyways, we went up to the ski Stadion this past saturday with his cousin Julianne who also got her first pair of skiis for xmas, and here are the results^^

today isn't a good day...
our son now has the chickenpox, or as we call it in Norway; Vannkopper. Behold.
oh and Heiike has taken up singing, bigtime. it goes mostly in the likes of "The wheels on the bus" or "itsy, bitsy spider" but still, its very cute to listen to him when we've put him to bed for the night, and suddenly hear him go "wheels on bus go round, round, round" and then really loud " THROUGH THE CIIIITYY!!"
and seeing as I'll be working like a nutter from now on and up to x-mas, I'll just appologize in advance for the low post rate here atm.

Today the Snow came
it's official, Winter's here now.
And my son is Extatic lol, it only fell like 10 cm of snow so far today,

I don't wanna get ahead of myself now but, I may have a job now^^
only parttime but it's a start. I saw a job add in the paper from a grocery store called Rimi, so i decided to give them a call and the guy apparently liked me, cause now Im going in on thursday, 10 in the morning^^

just now, another person from the local bookstore returned my call, and basically told me to send in my application asap, cause i sounded like a good candidate for the job they need to hire someone for!
THIS IS MADNESS!

ok, now i've written up my application and i'll send it tomorrow. This is possibly the most excitement I've had all year lol.

An eventful night.
so, we have 3 cats.
It's now autumn, and apparently we are having a lemming year this year.
Our cats like to hunt, and feel like they're contributing to the household, bless their little paws, but I swear, if I see one more dead lemming on the veranda in the morning, I'm gonna scream bloody murder! ><
It all started round the first of september, suddenly one day I woke up got dressed and went too call in the cats a usual and I see four dead lemmings on the veranda. I got a bit surprised, but thought fine, they just want to be nice, so, I moved all the dead lemmings down in the garden instead.
A few days pass, and lo and behold, another day more dead lemmings, four this time too. Fine, I praise all the cats to be on the safe side, not knowing exactly who killed them, and moved these as well.
Now, up here, by round eleven at night its pitch dark. So last night I didn't see much when I opened the door to let one of the cats in. Then as I close the door, it was a bit stuck, I suddenly hear the most godawful crunching sound!
As I look down, I see four small lemming feet, jammed in between the door and the doorframe! >< *shudders*
I quickly freak out, try to get the boyfriend to see if Its still alive or dead, cause I am slightly hysterical now, and daren't look myself. ( it might just be shocked and alive) and remove it, but he's too tired, so, ugh, I get a rolled up newspaper, and open the door, half expecting the little bastard to squeal, or open its eyes or something (I have a good imagination) quickly pushing the body away, and slamming the door shut, then I freak out some more.
I woke up today to see, one obviously dead lemming on the veranda.
god, I just hope the snow will come, soon!

The revised list of Things I Like
in 2005 I made a list of things I like, so now 3 years later I think its time to make a new one^^
My Boyfriend, whos been we me through thick and thin for the past almost 8 years now.
Our son, who makes me angry, glad and all things inbetween on a daily basis.
Our pets, all four of them. With their different personalities they are quite a bunch^^
Playing FFXI, I get to be a tall Female Elvaan that kan kick some serious ass, very good on the days I have PMS or I'm angry.
Family and friends, they understand me so well and are always ready to help if I need it.
Hot summer days, to bad summers over.
Laying on warm rocks in hot summer days, smelling everything makes me childishly happy.
The Midnight sun, wich haven't been around much this summer unfortunately.
Drawing, nowadays I find myself drawing more situations from FFXI. Im also messing about with the idea of making a web comic but nothings decided yet.
Lions, lynx's and wolves, they just appeal to me cause of their nature really.
Books by Terry pratchett, still cracks me up^^
Queen, the best band ever! and no, Mika is not the next Freddie Mercury. End of discussion.
Music from the 70's and 80's, just seems to have more soul in it, and I dont mean the music jangre.
Peter Sellers, a very funny man in his day.
Horses, im now helping take care of one, woohoo!
Autumn and the colors and smells, everything smells so sharp on the wind
The first snow, everything becomes so pretty.
The last snow, no more shoveling for 6 months^^
Christmas, I just love everything about it. Ask anybody.

summer break
Sorry I haven't posted here in ages, but I've been busy doing all sorts of things over the summer.

Me and the boyfriend have been fixing up moms garden, making a small bonfire/barbecue place, cutting down various trees, fixing two stone fences, did some work on her veranda stairs and other misc. gardening work.

busy day...
well today was fun.
woke up, doggie had eaten something last night that didn't agree with her, so she had been sick 3 places in the house during the night. cleaned it up, decided to go riding cause the weather was just gorgeous. delivered kid to moms for a few hours, was just about to go to horsie when phone calls.
It was mom, kid had fallen from her veranda with his head first onto the stones below and had a HUGE bump.
Went and brought him to the doctor who said he is fine, it will ne very badly bruised in a few days, but no concussion or anything like that. he also said we have to beware of sleeping tonight, check him regularly, and if he vomits, get him back to the hospital.
After all the drama, we took him back to moms and went to the horses.
we went for a ride, it was insanely hot, and by the end of the first hill, poor horsie was sweating like she got paid for it. Imagine her joy when we took her to a nearby lake, Navarsvannet. I thought she would only drink, at the edge of the water, she wanted to do this instead.^^

Happy Birthday Oluf
Today a great norwegian humorist, Mr Arthur Arntzen is celebrating his 70.th birthday. (and Oluf is 50)
Oluf on the right, and Arthur on the leftMr Arntzen once made a great north-norwegian character, Oluf Rallkattli, who have managed to made an entire country smile, cry and laugh hysterically at Olufs varius antics, both in book and tv form since 1967.
He has made a great impact on me as well, and I have more than once read his books and laughed until my stomach hurt. Mr Arntzen is bloody excellent in the way he so vividly captures you, as the reader or wiewer, and manages to make you really believe in Oluf.
He was a very genteel humorist, never made fun of people out of spite, he only ever ridiculed the politicians and persons in power. But he did make fun of everyday situations that could be seen everywhere before in Northern Norway. He also managed to tell of the seriousness in living up here before (and by before, I mean from, well forever, up until the 70s or 80s) how it could be to be a fisherman, with a wife and 8 children to feed, not to mention the sheep to take care of. The worries, quarrels with neighbours (even if the closest neighbour lived 8 km and one day away), the struggle against nature. But he did it in a way, using humor like I've never seen from any other author.
I know most ppl outside of Norway have never heard of this man, wich is very sad indeed. I don't think you can find anything Oluf-related in english, wich honestly is a great loss to all foreigners.
I just wanted to let you all know of him. A great man indeed. Happy Birthday Mr Arntzen.

A new family member
came along last night, via a friend.
Say Hi to Seph (short for Sephiroth, who is the villain in a videogame called Final Fantasy VII) and no his eyes aren't pink, the flash made them like that.
He's a lovely little boy. Very unafraid. We allready had 2 cats, a male, who is scared of Seph and tries to escape whenever Seph wants to play with him, and our Lady of the house, who got into a real hissing fit last night, she hissed at absolutely everything. But I really don't think they will hurt him though, I think they were mainly reacting to the smell of his mommy, and the fact that he is new, so they have to sort all that rank buisness out, again^^
But our dog was delighted, maybe a bit too happy, as he put her in her place relatively soon :)
So, stay tuned for more kitty adventure and drama in the following weeks.

my new hobby
So, lately I have helped a friend look after a horse. and my son is interrested in everything new and exciting, wich horses are^^ So I've taken him with me to the stable a few times and he absolutely loves it there, hes not scared of the horse at all. He has even become quite the little helper, he has groomed her a bit, helped muck out her box and have also given her food and bread and so on. So, one day after we had been to the stable he came home and said happily to his father "daddy buy stables" and followed up with "boy wants horsie".
So now we just need to save up money for a horse, the equipment and a stable, then he'll be a regular little cowboy^^

here is what we did this Sunday
We went to the place my dad grew up in the 30's. it is now only one person living there( the houses down by the water, in the distance) but I'd really love to be able to build a house there some day. it is only 20 mins drive from Vadsø, and 15 to the airport, so it's not so bad. Except the winds that blow in from the ocean all year round...
Finally found the little box where I can choose to Show as Thumbnail or not^^ enjoy!
and while we were there, we saw 3 reindeers, most likely females, due to not having the antlers and they are a tad smaller than the males^^

3 years ago, Heike was born. ^^
So, we have decorated the house with pirate balloons, and I've made him 2 cakes cause some of his friends are coming over later today. Tomorrow we're going to my moms to celebrate his and his cousin Juliannes joint birthday as she had her birthday earlier this week.
here he is only a few months old, god, time has just flown by :)

I am very sorry
about the no-posting on this blog these past months. I just really haven't felt like writing anything, cause, my life isn't that exciting. ;P
But I have had a wonderful xmas, and I really hope you all had that too. I got lots of lovely gifts, and so did my boyfriend and our son. ^^ Heck, even the pets had a nice day ;)
Saria having a rest after we got home on xmas eve, after lots of gifts and good food.
I made the turkey (for the first time ever) and that was lovely. Even if I do say so myself ^^
But it was a communal effort. My sister did the veggies and sauce and the bf made the sugar-glazed potatoes and the Frikadeller ( homemade meatballs).
The best gift I got this year, was definately my brand spanking new Digital camera that my sister ( the veggie and sauce one ) gave me, so from now on there will be more pictures in my blog, as requested by a friend. ^^
I did get a bit surprised though, when the local paper called me about 2 weeks before xmas, cause they had gotten information that I like to do lotsa decorating before xmas, and early as well. so, theydid a storry on me about it. And I know who gave them that anonymus tip *shakes fist* But in the end it all turned out ok and it was a nice stroy. Too bad I don't have a scanner , then I'd be able to post the story here.

Normally I don't post negative things about my life here, I have other places to do that in, but alot of shit have happened in my life lately that I am not gonna talk about here. it's just that today, The last straw finally broke the camels back. Our Tumbledryer just broke down and I haven't got the money to fix it.
This may not be a big deal to alot of you but to me this just is too much. I don't know how much more of this shit I can take and I really really feel like punching a few persons now. Trust me, they've earned it.
Now, if you can't say something sympatethic to this post, but just feel like saying something along the lines of "just get a job, and all will be well" then please shut up. I don't wanna hear it. I am trying to get a job but up here that's pretty damn hard. If this bothers you then just read my other posts and don't comment. Thank you.

thats it. all of last years x-mas deco is officially down now. This makes me a sad puppy indeed as it's so empty now...
oh well, in other news I found this site.
you write up a sentence, hit submit and voila instant bokstavkjeks words, then save image as and put it in your blog or wherever ^^. now for those poor unfortunate souls that don't know about Bokstavkjeks, it was a kind of cookie or bisquit that you could buy in shops in norway before they took it off the shelves due to not many people buying them. Wich is a bit sad, as it was a fun and tasty way for kids to learn the alphabet and how to write. I hope they return someday....
anyway, here is the end result of my little visit at the site.

Beeing sick....
sucks DONKEYNOSE!!!
Especially when both yourself and your one-year old have a mild case of the flu, and you both are coughing up enough goo to hide a small country in it, and you have a 10 year reunion this week-end to go to. Where they are having a BBQ. -_-
And also the berry-season have just started, with lotsa cloudberries and blueberries. And I can't pick them, cause I'm sick! Grrrr...
While Im beeing sick, I have thought of a question for you, here it comes:
WHAT IS THE POINT OF SNOT?
and don't give me that "to moist and protect your nasal cavities"-crap!
why do we have an endless supply off the stuff, and why does it keep running out your nose whenever you are sick?
is it trying to escape from the fact that it didn't do it's job right in the first place, making you sick to begin with?
I'd like some good answers to these things, and while you guys think it over, I'll set up a nifty Orange-juice Iv-drip system in the living room, and hook myself up to it, so I can just watch tv and pity myself.
